Dr. Riggs is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana, and completed his internal medicine residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He specializes in adult medicine with an emphasis on diabetes and hypertension management as well as preventive medicine.

Dr. Riggs graduated summa cum laude from the Honors College at Louisiana State University with a bachelors degree in Biological Sciences and minors in Chemistry and Psychology. He is a graduate of Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his internal medicine residency training at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Dr Riggs is board certified in internal medicine. He is also a certified hospice medical director and currently serves as the medical director for Hospice of Acadiana. He is a member of the ACP (American College of Physicians), AAHPM (American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine), and NHPCO (National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization).
